boilerroom has been finally revealed the identity of the most exciting formation of the past year. yes, the manchester based super mysterious super group give their faces to a live session. so far akkord has released a stunning debut mix on rob booth’s electronic exploratios, two ep’s on their own label with the same name and a third thrilling ep is about to surface on rob booth’s houndstooth (which is the new output of fabric records). hear their brilliant amalgamation precisely mixed from the compounds of techno, electronica and dubstep. awesome like geometrics, tricky as chemistry, this is next level bass science.

the guys with mutated chromosome codes in their names are tend to play bass weighty funky stuff. uk’s xxxy is quite known about it, just like florida’s xxyyxx aka marcel everett. his set at the los angeles boiler room session was quite a mixture of pretty much uplifting future beats on 140+ and slower house, both with a twist of funk. happy days!

the hotflush head honcho teamed up with one of george fitzgerald, who he had discovered years ago for his label to make some royal rumble at boiler room.tv. pumpin bass and jacking house all around! i was smiling when i heard them dropping the almost 30 years old heavy weight classic “house nation” just like me a few months ago at minimal camp in hungary (be sure to check that hyped out set of mine!). proper tear out.

pole, who is named after waldorf’s d-pole filter is one of my musical heroes. stefan’s first three albums (blue, red and yellow) are cornerstones in my collection. one solid figure of basic channel camp’s berlin dub movement. his puncturing minimal sound of dub vibration and echoing glitches are legendary, just like his mighty scape label. he dropped a wicked live set at ctm festival which was aired by boiler room. essential!

shogun audio cut the boiler room in tiny pieces with razor sharp blades. their deadly katana beats that slice every fat bass in between 80 and 160 bpm showed some serious skills. alix perez, spectrasoul and rockwell are big players on the dnb scene, but dont even try to think of anything ordinary here, this is a lecture of the most upfront bass music ranging from abstract bass beats to juke/footwork influenced dnb. well. done. lads.
